We've had a great summer and it has been encouraging to see the Lord working in the hearts of the students here. I have 4 guys in my group: Stephen, Lee, Kris, and Logan. I love these guys and have enjoyed getting to know them. I'm proud of them for being obedient to the where the Lord is refining them.

We've also made a lot of videos from the summer that turned out pretty funny. If you would like to view them, please go to www.youtube.com and type: "CLEMSONSHERARD" in the search and all of my videos will show up.

Hope y'all have had a great summer!

God Bless,

Bobby

Long Time, No type...

After multiple threats and furocious criticism for my lack of blogging, I bring you a new blog! **Ba dada daaaaaaaa....brrrdabrrrdabrrrda...klaaaaaaaadaaaaaaaaaa brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrmmmmmmmmbaaaaaaaa** (that was an entire orchestra of horns, woodwinds, and flutes with a celebratory intro to this blog)

Well well well...let's see, I haven't written since JANUARY. We hung out in Clemson for a weekend and I think February went really really slow due to the 29th day being there this leap year. I did, however, go see Pride and Prejudice the play at Belmont University with the staff girls. I took good mental notes in order to please the females in my life.

March--Spring Break was not so much a break...we went to Panama City for Big Break with CCC. It was good to hear my HOMEBOY, ROGER HERSHEY... he brought the truth with a punch and a swift kick to the spiritual shin. I also got to spend Easter with Jenna and her family in Myrtle Beach...that was a very fun weekend and Jenna and her family are more than wonderful....they're majestically wonderful.

April--I was glad to see my last weekend in TN with nothing to do come and go...that got really old, really quick. I haven't seen Brad in 2.5 years since he's been in Niger, Africa. I missed him a lot and I was very happy to catch up as much as we could in 2 days. It helps me be organized when I have to hammer out details on a day-to-day basis. I encourage everyone to get one...they're handy, stylish, and beyond convenient.

Well, it's been a while since I last "blogged". I'll write a brief summary of the last few weeks:

* Christmas was good. We got to spend some time together at home and I now own every season of The Office. I also now know the anatomy of snowmen and snowwomen!

* Winter Conference was really fun. I got to be a cameraman, hang out with fellow staff, and enjoy my job. I also got to spend some quality time with my favorite Tar Heel in the world: Jenna Pusser. We got a chance to put the phones down for a while and spend some time together in Greensboro in person. Oh, and the University of Maryland did a great job parking the bus in the parking lot.

* Jenna and I got to hang out in West End, NC and at Clemson. We met each other's families and had a great weekend watching Juno, having jitters, going out for her dad's 51st birthday, going to the Clemson/UNC game, and have fun talking while we traveled in the Explorer. She's wonderful.
Now, back to the UNC/Clemson game...I just want the WORLD to know that I was on an A+++ behavoir that night and even though Clemson lost at the last second in overtime, I was a good boyfriend and a good sport. The Holy Spirit is the only reasonable explanation.

* I got back to TN on tuesday and we have been planning the last couple of days for the semester to crank up. School starts Monday and so begins another semester.

Now, for the lyrics of this post....I have chosen "No Diggity" by Blackstreet. It is a classic and doesn't have too many spiritual connections, but we can critique it nonetheless. I tried to look up what exactly "No diggity" means. I failed. The chorus is: "I like the way you work it. (No diggity) I got to bag it up." Here is my translation: "Excuse me, Miss...I enjoy the way you walk. (No doubt about it) I would like to take you out for a lovely meal." BUT...I could be wrong.

OK, until next time...this is Bobby thanking you for reading his newest blog ever.

It's All In the Wrist

Fact: I can rip a phonebook in half. Humble, Hot, Hilarious, and _______.

The lyrics for today come from: "Deathbed" by Relient K. This is a bit tougher to explain, but after an afternoon of talking about man's sin, sheep, and our need for Christ, I will try. The 11 minute song describes the life of a man who had it tough. He lost his dad at a young age, fell into addictions at an early age, lost his wife and kids in a broken marriage, and ultimately finds himself on his own deathbed. He thinks through his whole life, remember how alone he is. He claims that he was scared of Jesus, but as he starts to pass away, he hears Christ remind him of the night he asked for forgiveness. "You cried wolf. The tears they soaked your fur. The blood dripped from your fangs. You said, "What have I done?" You loved that lamb with every sinful bone. And there you wept alone. Your heart was so contrite." It's sad to the first thought, but it's you and I. Our sins killed that lamb. We're the wolf that, in our own guilt and brokeness, realizes what it is that we've done to what we love. Don't worry--the Lamb comes back to life. It's a great song, I encourage you to youtube it when you have an extra 11 minutes.

Oh and remember: don't run to Greensboro, I won't burn anymore shoes, and I will ABSOULTELY bring you coffee when you're working in the bookstore. We went to walmart one night for a family photo and ended up winning Rhett and Link's Facebook Picture of the Month Award. They still owe us some sort of tanglible award.

It feels like December has flown by, yet I find myself with little to do before Christmas. I went to the elementary school the last two days to say hello to former co-workers and children that I helped raise for five years. Most of them haven't changed too much. One 1st grader seems to still be on his toes when it comes to our infamous cut-down fights. Today he claimed that I loved to eat "grizzly bear sandwiches". In my oh-so-mature 23 year old and college graduate defense, I shot back with, "well, all you want for Christmas is to kiss all the girls in your class on the lips!!" He laughed with submission and shouted, "YOU WIN!" It was my first victory versus this child. He stands tall with a 78-1 record.

I have been helping my dad make some changes to the bathroom upstairs and I've caught up with my thank you cards...but besides that, I am trying to play drums and guitar and wait for Christmas and Campus Crusade's winter conference! CAN NOT WAIT.

As I said before I wanted to touch on some sort of lyrics each time I write and todays song comes from Switchfoot. From the song, "Golden" off of the album Nothing is Sound. In the outro, Jon Foreman writes about the beauty of renewal and redemption found in Christ after we recognize (or even don't recognize) our weakness and shortcomings. It's simple, but an awesome picture of forgiveness. "This world is a dead man down. Every breath is a fading crown we wear--Like some debilitated king. (Don't let go tonight). The Earth spins and the moon goes round. The green comes from the frozen ground--And everything will be made new again, like freedom in Spring." WOOO! Yessir. Although it's a great mental image to find freedom in renewal and rebirth, I am ironically enjoying the colder weather. Hallelujah for God's year-round redemption...

On a more totally random note, I have developed a new fear (or more-so a concern). People who change themselves in some sort animal or creature. We'll call them "manimals and womanimals". I've seen pictures of Lizardman, Coyoteman, and even Leopardman. The fear comes when I think, "If this person is so serious to tattoo themselves and sharpen their teeth, and mutate themselves, what is going to keep them from pouncing on me in the grocery store or in line at the bank?" I would hope that I'd have a God-given surge of bravery if I ever came in contact with one of them. Maybe I'd share the Gospel...maybe I'd just say, "nice forked tongue."

It is a true honor and priveledge to announce to everyone that I have currently been noted as one (of 2) of the funniest people on earth. This title is accepted with great humility and full-awareness of it's magnitude. I mean...I beat a couple billion people for this, so I thought it was Blog-worthy.

I leave this post with a bow and a salute to all who take a look at this. It is all based on a true story and I feel as though it is my duty and responsibility to share with everyone who cares to read what is going on in my life...when I have the time or memory to write...

It is very cold outside and it makes me wonder how in the world it was 75 degrees just a day ago. I think one of the more frustrating things with ClemPson weather is how it rarely snows, but we love to have bitter cold rain. Cold rain is like a silver medal in the Olympics---The Third Place winner is just happy to get a medal, the 1st place winner gets to stand on the highest block, and ol' Silver Medal-winner is stuck with being the FIRST loser. No one wants Silver. No one wants cold rain.

On a happier note, I find myself having time to catch my breath from the semester in TN. It's good to see Clemson...even though it's a ghost town without any of the students; However, a new Food Lion has sprouted out of nowhere since the last time I was home...so we continue to grow. I look forward to spending time with the family and knocking the rust off of my drumset.

I listen to a lot of music and I like to try to apply certain lyrics to what I'm learning or what I think the Lord is teaching me at the time...and so I want to talk about at least one set of lyrics every time I post. It being the Christmas season, I try to constantly remind myself that it is about Christ and not so much making sure I have bought everyone's presents. I often find myself humbled by the thought of Christ being born so that he could one day die. I am reminded of the fact that I'm made a new creation because of His death (2 Cor. 5:17) which leads me to the first lyrics...

The lyrics are from the song, "Spartan" by the GREATEST band in the world: FIVE IRON FRENZY. Reese Roper describes the scene of Christ's birth and the fact that the past, that night, and all of the future was already covered in His perfect plan. He stresses that Christ has covered anything--even what we try to create on our own to make us feel better. "The angels are singing over the plains. The shepherds are quaking; echoing refrains. And all of our slogans, designed to take away the pain, meant nothing to the Son of God that night in Bethlehem." Beautiful! I love it.

I'm not sure what the rules are for these things...but I do feel an unusual freedom to just write whenever and about whatever---so with that said, Y'all have been warned.

I'll post again whenever my Clemson party is over. 10 guys on the back of a truck with a portable TV and without a sidehug is not as much fun as it sounds...so it'll be sooner than later.
